Lowell Royce Thomas, age 86, of Richmond, passed away Sunday, August 3, 2025, at Compassionate Care Center.
Mr. Thomas, the son of Roscoe and Laoma Richardson Thomas, was born in Estill County on December 12, 1938. When he was younger, he enjoyed riding motorcycles and was always up for a good card game. He ran his own auto body repair shop for many years. Lowell dearly loved his family and was a member of the Rosedale Baptist Church.
On Christmas Eve in 1959, he united in marriage to Edna Gadd Thomas, who survives, and they enjoyed 65 years of marriage together.
Mr. Thomas is also survived by two daughters: Trina (& Marshall) Abrams and Cathy (& Jimmy) Murphy all of Richmond, three grandchildren: Ashley (& Adam) Coomes, Daniel Abrams and Nicholas (& Brooke) Murphy, two great grandchildren: Hunter Murphy and Avry Coomes and his niece and nephew: Norma (& Perry) Stocker and Rick (& Angie) Thomas.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Thomas was also preceded in death by his brother, Farrel Thomas and his sister, Carol Thomas.
Visitation will be held from 10:00 – 12:00 PM Thursday, August 7, 2025, Rosedale Baptist Church, 411 Westover Ave., Richmond.
Funeral Service will be conducted at 12:00 PM Thursday, August 7, 2025, at the church with Rev. Paul Sowders officiating.
Pallbearers will be James Thomas, Rick Thomas, Donnie Thomas, Glen Thomas, Doug Thomas and Ricky D. Thomas.
The family requests that expressions of sympathy be made in the form of donations to Compassionate Care Center, 350 Isaacs Ln, Richmond KY 40475 or Rosedale Baptist Church at the address above.
