Loyd A. Thompson passed away unexpectedly on July 27th, in Enoree, South Carolina while working. His dog and trucking partner, Miley Mae, was with him until the end.
He was born on October 22, 1959, in Milford, Connecticut, the son of the JoyceAnn Roberts of Enosburg Falls, Vermont and the late Phillip Joseph Thompson.
Grasshopper was a trucker for 42 years, owning Hopper Express, LLC, was an avid NASCAR fan, loved to tell jokes and was a devoted father and loving grandfather. He left a massive impression on people and would give his shirt off his back if he liked you.
Survivors include his mother, JoyceAnn, his children, Nathan Thompson and wife, Hilary, of Leburn, Kentucky and Nicole Thompson of Crown Point, New York, his step kids who he raised as his own, Amber and Chad Paquette and Virginia Alger, as well as his grandkids, Destiney, Jamie, Kaiya, Kolton, Kendall, Penelope and Maison.
He is also survived by his siblings, Wanda Roberts of Windsor, Virginia, Craig Thompson of Shelburne, Vermont, Phillip Thompson (Sherri) of Rochester, New Hampshire, Rebecca Jacobs (Brian) of Richford, Vermont and Tonya Hannis (Joe) of Bristol, England and the many friends he met on the road over the years that became his brothers.
In addition to his father, Phillip, Loyd was predeceased by his daughter, Anna Alger and son, James Alger.
Upon Loyd's wishes there will be no funeral, there will be a celebration of life at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Truckers Final Mile, 3301-R Coors Boulevard, NW # 293, Albuquerque, New Mexico 87120 or at (truckersfinalmile.org) in memory of Loyd.
