Lucas Wilson Obituary

Lucas "Luke" Wilson, died Saturday, July 27, 2024, in Lake City, FL. He was 39 years old. Luke was born Lucas Paul Wilson, on September 6, 1984 in Denton, Texas. When Luke was about two years old, the family moved to Florida. They lived in Hobe Sound, Florida until Luke was 9. There he attended Hobe Sound Elementary and played soccer in the 1st and 2nd grade. Luke was raised in the Christian faith and was taught the word of God from an early age. Luke accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior and on January, 22, 1995, he was baptized at Jesus Way Church in Midland, Texas by Rev. Jerry Murphy. When Luke was 9, his parents divorced and he moved with his mother and younger brother Eli to Branford, Florida. In Branford, he attended Branford Elementary and High School. He and his brother both played baseball and football. They loved the outdoors and spending time at the river. When Luke was 15, he went to live with his father in Deland, Florida. He stayed there for a couple of years before returning to Suwannee County. Luke followed his father's footsteps and went into the Construction trade. He was a good carpenter. He could build a house from the ground up, but his specialty was framing. His brother Eli, who also went into construction, said Luke was the best framer he ever knew. At one time he even had his own business, L&A Custom Framing. In 2004 Luke married Lacey Carlson. On April 30, 2004, they had a son, Dillan Luke Wilson. They had three more children. Logan, Ethan and Kaylinn before their marriage ended in 2013. After the divorce, Luke got full custody of his four children. Life of a single father of four little kids proved to be difficult for Luke. He fell on hard times and the family was split apart temporarily. It wasn't long before Luke got back on his feet and his family reunited. In 2014, Luke began dating Laura Hicks. On June 25, 2015, they had a daughter, Ava Sarah Wilson. Luke loved all of his children dearly and enjoyed spending time with them. Luke was an amazing artist and was good at tattooing. He enjoyed skate boarding and surfing. He also enjoyed riding motorcycles. A passion he got from his mom and step-dad Mike. Luke is preceded in death by his maternal grandfather Bill Newcomb and his step-dad Michael Thomas. He is survived by his mother Janice Thomas, father Laurence Wilson, brother Elijah Wilson, maternal grandmother Sarah Newcomb and his five children, Dillan Thomas, Logan Wilson, Ethan Wilson, Kaylinn Wilson, and Ava Wilson. As well as many aunts, uncles and cousins. Luke will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. Services to be held on Friday, August 9, 2024 at Daniels Funeral Home Chapel in Branford at 11:00 am.

I, as Luke's mother, have so many sweet memories of him. One of my fondest, goes back to early 1991. It was superbowl time and Luke was a Giants fan. Our neighbor Ed liked the Bills. So a wager was made. When the Giants won the game, we walked next door and I rang the bell. When Ed opened the door, little six-year-old Luke held out his hand and said "hand over the kool-aid Ed!" I love my son so dearly! My heart is shattered! I will miss Luke every day, for the rest of my life!
