Lucia "Lucy" LaRocca, a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and sister, passed away peacefully on May 10, 2025, at the age of 96 in Ridge, NY. Born on January 22, 1929, in Queens, NY, Lucy exemplified warmth and resilience throughout her life.
Lucy dedicated many years of her career as a bookkeeper for Nordent in Brooklyn, where her meticulous nature and devotion earned her the respect and admiration of her colleagues. In her personal life, Lucy was a nurturing figure, deeply committed to her family and community.
She is survived by her loving son, John LaRocca, her devoted daughters, Christine Novak and Virginia O'Neal and her caring son, J.B. Avery. Lucy treasured the time spent with her granddaughter, Jessica Novak, and delighted in the joy that her great-granddaughter, Ava Llanes, brought to her life.
Lucy was preceded in death by her beloved husband, the late Joseph LaRocca, and her parents, Alfonso and Sarafina Maurizio. Their memories continue to shine brightly in the legacy she leaves behind.
Visitation services will be held on May 14, 2025, from 2:00 PM to 4:30 PM and again from 7:00 PM to 9:30 PM at the Mangano Family Funeral Home of Middle Island, located at 640 Middle Country Rd, Middle Island, NY 11953. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in her honor on May 15, 2025, at 10:30 AM at Saint Mark's R.C. Church, 105 Randall Rd, Shoreham, NY 11786.
Lucia "Lucy" LaRocca will be dearly missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing her. Her spirit and love will remain etched in the hearts of her family and friends forever.
