Lucie Grammatico, 87, passed away peacefully on January 7 in Palm Desert, California.
Born in Tunisia on May 1, 1937 to the late Santino and Nunziata (Amodei) Scagliarini, she was raised in Tunisia and moved to Syracuse in 1957 to join her husband. Lucie retired from Upstate Medical Center after over 30 years of service where she held the position of Supervisor, Glassware. Lucie loved her job and spoke of it often.
She was the beloved wife of 58 years to Rosaire Grammatico, who passed away in 2015. Lucie is survived by her children, Marie, John, and Nancy of California; her five grandchildren, Jeanelle, Brittney, Jacqueline, Brianna, and Marissa, and her one brother, Salvo Scagliarini of France. Lucie was predeceased by her sons, Joseph and Santino.
Lucie raised five children while working full time and took care of anyone fortunate enough to enter her life. She passed up opportunities to further her career so she could take care of her family. Lucie knew her place but went out of her way to help people, mostly by feeding them, but also by listening to their problems. She spent countless hours beating everyone she could at her favorite card game. Her wit and sarcasm will be sorely missed.
A private service was held on Saturday at Carter Funeral Home, 1604 Grant Blvd., Syracuse. Contributions can be made in Mrs. Grammatico's memory to the American Cancer Society.
