Mother Lucille Bryan-Settle

Lucille Settle affectionately known within her social circle as Ms. Lucy, departed from this world on July 15, 2024 at the age of 76.
Lucille was born on November 11, 1947 in Beaufort, S.C. She attended St. Helena Elementary and High School where she graduated in 1965. Upon graduating high school, Lucille pursued a career at Christ Hospital in Jersey City. She worked at Friendly's Laundromat and Wendy's. Lucille later retired from Jersey City Board of Education where she was a Food Service Worker at PS# 17.
Lucille met and married the love of her life, Spaulding Settle, Jr. in 1983. Through this union they have three children, Edwin Bryan, Rodney Bryan and Spaulding B. Settle III.
Lucille served as a member of Monumental Baptist Church, where she was apart of the Mother's Board, Senior Choir, Voices and the Women's Choir.
Lucille enjoyed watching the sitcoms: The Honeymooners, Sanford and Sons, Young and the Restless and the Bold and the Beautiful. She also had a passion for sports, Dallas Cowboys and New York Yankees was the best team in the world.
Lucille is predeceased by her loving husband, Spaulding B. Settle Jr.; mother, Martha Bryan and brother, Walter Paul Bryan.
Lucille is survived by her sons, Edwin Bryan (Norma), Rodney Bryan (Jamilla), Spaulding Settle (Shadiah); 12 grandchildren; 1 great-grandchild; siblings, Elnora Quinn, Laura Bryan, Martha Bryan, Robert Bryan and James Bryan, sisters-in-law, Vanessa, Lucille and Mildred Bryan, special cousin, Vanessa Young, special nephew, Ronald Bryan and, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends
who all loved her dearly.
