Lucille Ann Duerst, 83, of Durand, IL died August 26, 2024 at 5:16 p.m. in Javon Bea Hospital after a brief illness. She was born February 16, 1941 in Darlington, Wisconsin the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Hjalmar and Amy (Steensland) Duffy. Lucy graduated from Blanchardville High School the class of 1959. Lucille married Gerald O. Duerst in Daleyville, WI on May 27, 1961.
Lucy worked for AC McCartney as the executive assistant for over 40 years; served as the Durand Village clerk for many years, she was currently the Laona Township Clerk. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church where she was active in many committees. Durand American Legion Auxiliary-Gold Star, Durand Food Pantry, Charter member of Durand Ditch Riders, Durand Ecumenical Council.
Survivors include daughters Heidi (Jeff) Swanson; Dawn (Sid) Hendon and Darrin (Dawn) Duerst; grandchildren Kyle Swanson, Briana (Nathan) Gearing, Collin Palmer, Reece (Fabiola) Palmer, Alyssa Duerst and Evan Duerst; sister Alice (Bob) Yaeger; brother Elton Duffy; sister Delores (Donny) Larson, Arlene (Larry) Goecks; numerous nieces and nephews.
Predeceased by her parents, husband, brother Eugene Duffy
A memorial ceremony will be held at 11:00 a.m., on Friday September 6, 2024 in Trinity Lutheran Church, 15585 Durand Road, Durand, IL with Rev. Eric Lemonholm officiating. Burial will be in South Rock Run Cemetery. A memorial visitation be held at the church from 9:00 a.m., until time of ceremony.
Memorials may be made to The American Legion Auxiliary- Gold Star, Unit 676- P.O. Box 165, Durand, IL and the Durand Area Food Pantry, P.O. Box 564 Durand, IL 61024.
