Lucille Fields Gilstrap, 97, of Cumming, Georgia, went to be with her Lord and Savior early Tuesday morning, July 15, 2025, at Pruitt Health/Hospice, Jasper, Georgia. She was born in Marble Hill, Georgia on September 10, 1927.

She accepted Christ at the age of 12 and dedicated her life to Christ.

Lucille was preceded in death by Earl Gilstrap, husband of 34+ years and E.D. Whitt, husband of 25+ years; son, Ben Gilstrap (Diann) of Gainesville. Surviving daughters Shirley Varnado of Ball Ground; Mary Whitt of Jasper; Connie Wilbanks (Tom) of Clarkesville; preceded in death, by brothers: Donis Fields (Martha) of Hiram and David Fields (Mary) of Jonesboro, J.C. Fields (Lilly Mae), Atlanta, Harold Fields, Cumming, Larry Fields, Boise, Idaho; Sisters: Jane Harper (Bob) Cumming, Grace Pirkle (Theron) Alpharetta, Betty Cagle (Johnny), Cumming. Grandchildren: Shawn Fouts of Cumming; Brandon Fouts (Crystal) of Holly Springs; Daniel Gilstrap (Sara) of Toccoa; Kelly Wilbanks Burgess (Tommy) of Clarkesville; Katie Stafford (Jonathan) of Charlotte, Charlotte, North Carolina; 15 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great grandchild; special family friends Wei, Fan & Charles Zhao and Margaret Schefer (Jack) of Fairfax, Virginia; and many loved nieces and nephews. She always said, "family is everything"!!

Lucille was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and friend to many across the globe. She never met a stranger. She loved cooking and baking. Gospel music was her refuge; she and Earl enjoyed attending many concerts. Lucille worked for many years and retired in 1979, as Executive Administrator to Director, School of Mechanical Engineering at Georgia Tech. She met the love of her life prior and retired to spend her retirement years with Earl and travelled to 49 states. Lucille was a dedicated member of Antioch Baptist Church of Cumming and involved in the choir and WMU. She traveled to several foreign countries on mission trips and was actively involved in the Gideons Women Auxiliary and prison ministry. She made two trips to Holy Land. Lucille's greatest love was her love of Christ and spreading His word as often as possible.

A special thank you to the entire staff at Rock Creek Manor and Pruit Health & Hospice both located in Jasper, Georgia for the loving care and support of our precious mother.

Family will accept Visitors on Saturday, July 19, 2025, from 12:00 until 2:30 PM, Funeral at 2:30 PM at McDonald and Son Funeral Home Chapel.
