Lucille Mueller, age 98, of Appleton, departed this life on April 11, 2025, and entered the Glory of Eternal Life with her family by her side. She was born on November 13, 1926, in Greenville to the late Edwin and Irene (Radtke) Steinberg. Baptized at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Greenville, she attended Bethlehem Lutheran School, Hortonville, and was confirmed on Palm Sunday, April 6, 1941. Graduating from Hortonville High School in 1945, she then worked for the Outagamie Courthouse. She married Lloyd Mueller on August 9, 1947, and spent 64 years of happiness together, blessed with three daughters and one son. Lloyd passed on August 13, 2011.
Lucille was an active and faithful member of Mount Olive Evangelical Lutheran Church, Appleton, involved in Sunday School, Girl Pioneers, Altar Guild, Ladies Aid and choir. She volunteered for many projects, including embroidering many baptismal napkins for Mt Olive families. She and Lloyd enjoyed retirement years in Florida and Arizona, golfing with friends. Back home would find her sewing, knitting, and quilting. In earlier years daughters wore homemade dresses and later, grandchildren were blessed with gifts of afghans and quilts.
Mom’s simple pleasure was a car ride in the countryside., where she would provide us, un detail, with memories of her life experiences. Flowers adorned her garden, while “comfort meals” were enjoyed at the table, only after she led us in saying ‘grace.’ Holiday treats were abundant, with the baking of “peppernuts” a sign Christmas was near; a tradition that continues. Mom was generous, grateful, helpful, loving, and felt truly blessed that her family joined her in knowing Jesus as their Savior.
Lucille is survived by her daughters: Sharon (John) Stephen, Sandra (Lee) Neumann, Charlene (Rick) Bingner and son Richard (Joan) Mueller; grandchildren: Angela (Tyner) Elgin, Kristin (Justin) Kirkland, Dan (Jess) Mueller, Andrea Mueller; great grandchildren: Mason, Naduah, Avery, Parker, Wyatt and Savannah; brother-in-law David Mueller; sister-in-law Virginia Fritz and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Lloyd, her and Lloyd’s parents, sister Gladys, brother-in-law James Schroeder, and sister-in-law Betty Mueller.
Much love to Jill and Jodi for their years of devotion to Mom in her home, and to Pat for morning companionship.
The Funeral Services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Monday April 21, 2025, at Mount Olive Ev. Lutheran Church, 903 E. Florida Avenue, Appleton. Friends may gather directly from 9:30 a.m. until the time of services. Lucille will be entombed at Highland Memorial Park, Appleton.
