Lucille Veronica Phipps

Lucille Veronica Phipps, age 92, of Burleson TX, passed away on July 7, 2025.

Lucille was the youngest of 6 children, born January 2, 1933, to the late William Jahns and Elizabeth (Currier) Jahns. She grew up in Holbrook, a suburb of Chicago Heights, IL where she met and married Robert Dewayne Phipps on October 18th, 1952. She worked at a movie theater, a bank and restaurant in her early 20's before settling in her favorite role as the matriarch of the Phipps family as a mother and homemaker.

Lucille, fondly known as "Lou" (the other half of Bob-A-Lou), loved and cherished her family, especially spending time with her grandchildren of all ages. Her second love was horses, dogs, birds, any animals really, as she deemed herself a self-proclaimed animal whisperer.

Lucille is preceded in death by her loving husband, Robert Phipps, daughter Linda Phipps and grandson Thomas Beals, Jr.

Lucille is survived by her children: George Phipps, Connie Goodman, Robert Phipps Jr. (married to Cathey), LaVene Brooks (married to Michael). She also leaves behind a sister Elaine Muzzo, 14 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren, 8 great-great grandchildren and many wonderful nieces and nephews.

The graveside service for Lucille will be held on Wednesday, July 16, 2025, at Assumption Cemetery, located at 19500 S. Cottage Grove Glenwood, IL 60430. Attendees are encouraged to arrive by 10:45am. Father Gary of Our Lady of the Heights Catholic Church will be officiating.

Pallbearers will be Michael Brooks, Ryan Goodman, Keath Murray, Tyler Beals, Victor Muzzo and Joseph Muzzo.

Lucille's family sincerely thanks the doctors, nurses, and caregivers at Clinical Bridges, Morada Burleson, and Tender Heart Hospice for their care and support during her final days.
