It is with heavy hearts and cherished memories that we announce the passing of Lucy Estella Greer, who left this world on August 24, 2025, at the age of 89. Lucy was a radiant presence in the lives of all who knew her—kind-hearted, strong-willed, and full of joy.
Born on February 28, 1936, Lucy lived a rich and spirited life marked by her deep love for family, her passion for adventure, and her dedication to community. She found beauty in the everyday—whether through travel, cooking meals for those she loved, dancing to her favorite songs, shopping for little treasures, or volunteering at local events. Lucy’s warmth, laughter, and boundless energy left a lasting impression on everyone fortunate enough to cross her path.
Lucy is survived by her beloved daughter, Cynthia Nelson; her devoted sister, Ester Garcia, and brother, Levi Garcia; her eight grandchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild, each of whom carries a piece of her legacy in their hearts.
She now rests in peace, reunited with her parents, Rebecca Marion Valencia and Jake Lucian Garcia, her brothers, Clyde and Richard Garcia, and her beloved son, Darris Greer, all of whom she held close in memory and love.
A Memorial Service to honor and celebrate Lucy’s life will be held on Monday, September 22, 2025, at 3:00 p.m. at the Marvel Methodist Church in Hesperus, Colorado. A Celebration of Life Potluck will follow at the Marvel Grange, where family and friends will gather to share stories, laughter, and a meal in her honor—just as Lucy would have wanted.
Lucy’s life was a beautiful journey of love, strength, and generosity. Her memory will continue to inspire and comfort all those who were lucky enough to know her.
