My dear brothers and sisters in Christ,
As we gather here today, I find myself in the midst of an ocean of emotions. It´s never easy saying goodbye. I know MAMA Lucy´s memories will live on in each of the hearts that she has touched.
She was a person of humble beginnings, but she was rich in ways that cannot be measured by material possessions. She was rich in wisdom, in kindness, in love. She knew the value of hard work, the importance of honesty, and the strength of humility. Her life was not an easy journey, but it was a journey she embarked on with courage and dignity especially when she migrated here to the US to be with her beloved daughter Lucy Ann and the twins. She had to leave her 3 sons in the Philippines. She loved unconditionally, gave generously, and forgave easily. She had a way of making you feel extraordinary by verbalizing what her heart sees in you.
As I stand here today, I am reminded of the adage that "Life is not about the number of breaths we take, but about the moments that take our breath away." Mama Lucy lived her life embracing every moment and cherishing every breath.
Today, as I bid farewell to her, I am not saying goodbye. Instead, I am saying thank you. Thank you, Mama Lucy for the chance to drive you around and take you to your doctor´s appointments. Thank you for your precious appreciation of the little things that we do for you. Your generous words that made us feel good that alas, we are doing good for the glory of God. You may not be physically present but your spirit lives on. Your love continues to surround us and your pretty smile will always echo in our hearts. Rest in peace, Mama Lucy. You will always be loved, always be missed, and forever be remembered. We love you.
