It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Luigi Angelo ("Lou"), of Ruffsdale who left this world on July 27, at the age of 93. Lou was a beloved son, brother, uncle, great uncle, friend, and cherished church member. Lou grew up in Wyano, PA and graduated from South Huntingdon Township High School in 1950. A Korean war-era vet, he served in the US Army through the end of the war and went on to attend Robert Morris University, obtaining his degree in accounting. He then began a long career with the US federal government where he spent 30 years working for HUD and the Dept of Agriculture. During much of that time, he resided in Washington DC and subsequently moved back "home" to settle in Ruffs Dale for retirement.
Born on July 7, 1932, Lou was a devout Christian and member of the Church of Jesus Christ. Known for his unwavering faith, generosity, and kind spirit, Lou touched the lives of all who had the privilege of knowing him. Lou believed that true joy comes from giving, and he embodied this principle in everything he did. His generosity knew no bounds and he was especially fond of feeding his many friends and acquaintances.
Lou was proceeded in death by his parents, Frank and Emanuella (Vella) D'Angelo and by sisters Gina Bindas and Nina Hagen. He is survived by his brother, Aldo Angelo of Ambridge, and by a nephew Brian Hagen (Christy), and niece Linda Hagen (Joe Kalinoski) and 5 great nephews and niece Garrett, Gavin, Nikita, Nick and Anna.
A service celebrating Lou's life and legacy will be held on July 30 at BROOKS FUNERAl HOME, INC 406 E. Washington St. Mt. Pleasant. Viewing/visitation from 11AM to 1PM with a service scheduled for 1PM.
Lou will be forever remembered for his unwavering faith, boundless generosity, and loving spirit. Though he is no longer with us in body, his legacy will live on in the countless lives he touched, and the world is better (and decidedly less hungry) for having had him in it.
