Luis Zendejas "Lili" Avila

Luis "Lili" Zendejas, age 88, of Blue Island, Illinois, and formerly of Yurecuaro, Michoacán, Mexico, passed away peacefully on September 10, 2025, surrounded by his loving family.

Born on November 10, 1936, in Yurecuaro, Michoacán, Mexico, Luis was the beloved son of the late Francisco Zendejas Naranjo and the late Sabina Avila Alvarado. He was preceded in death by his devoted wife, Genoveva, with whom he shared a life filled with love and family.

Luis was the proud and loving father of eight; Miguel, Rigoberto, Magdalena, Angelina, Pedro, Ramona, Gricelda, and Luis "Güero." He was the cherished grandfather of 25, great-grandfather of 29, and great-great-grandfather of one-leaving behind a beautiful and enduring legacy.

Luis is the beloved brother of Magdalena, the late Jesus, the late Francisco, and Ana Maria. A dear uncle to many nieces and nephews and a treasured cousin to many more, Luis touched countless lives with his warmth, kindness, and joyful spirit.

Luis was immensely proud of his heritage and made frequent visits to his hometown in Mexico. He found great joy in music and loved to dance.

Above all, Luis will be remembered for his unwavering love for his family, his joyful heart, and the deep roots he planted both in Mexico and in his community in Blue Island. He leaves behind many other dear family members and friends who will forever cherish his memory.

Visitation will be held on Monday, September 15, 2025, from 3:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Krueger Funeral Home, 13050 Greenwood Ave., Blue Island, IL.

Chapel prayers will begin on Tuesday at 9:00 AM at Krueger Funeral Home, proceeding to St. Augustine Church, 4130 147th St., Midlothian, IL, for Mass at 10:00 AM. Interment will follow at St. Casimir Cemetery. Donations to the family are greatly appreciated.

Luis "Lili" Zendejas, de 88 años, residente de Blue Island, Illinois, y originario de Yurécuaro, Michoacán, México, falleció en paz el 10 de septiembre de 2025, rodeado del amor de su familia.

Nacido el 10 de noviembre de 1936 en Yurécuaro, Michoacán, México, Luis fue el querido hijo de los ya fallecidos Francisco Zendejas Naranjo y Sabina Ávila Alvarado. Fue precedido en muerte por su amada esposa, Genoveva, con quien compartió una vida llena de amor y familia.

Luis fue un padre orgulloso y amoroso de ocho hijos: Miguel, Rigoberto, Magdalena, Angelina, Pedro, Ramona, Gricelda y Luis "Güero". Fue un abuelo muy querido de 25 nietos, bisabuelo de 29 y tatarabuelo de uno, dejando un hermoso y duradero legado familiar.

Luis fue el querido hermano de Magdalena, Ana María, y de los ya fallecidos Jesús y Francisco. También fue un tío querido para muchos sobrinos y un primo muy apreciado para muchos más. Tocó innumerables vidas con su calidez, bondad y espíritu alegre.

Luis estaba profundamente orgulloso de sus raíces y visitaba con frecuencia su querido pueblo en México. Disfrutaba enormemente de la música y le encantaba bailar.

Sobre todo, Luis será recordado por su amor incondicional hacia su familia, su corazón alegre y las profundas raíces que sembró tanto en México como en su comunidad en Blue Island. Deja a muchos otros familiares y amigos queridos que siempre atesorarán su memoria.

El velorio se llevará a cabo el lunes 15 de septiembre de 2025, de 3:00 p.m. a 8:00 p.m. en Krueger Funeral Home, ubicado en 13050 Greenwood Ave., Blue Island, IL.

Las oraciones en la capilla comenzarán el martes a las 9:00 a.m. en Krueger Funeral Home, y de allí partirán a la Iglesia San Agustín, ubicada en 4130 147th St., Midlothian, IL, donde se celebrará la misa a las 10:00 a.m.

El entierro se llevará a cabo en el cementerio St. Casimir. Las donaciones a la familia son muy apreciadas.
