I met Luis, his wife Jen and children over 20 years ago while vacationing at Siesta Key. Our two-week yearly ritual was shared by many families and very quickly the Barroso family became a pleasant addition to the group.
The Dr Barroso I met loved to share memories of earlier years at the University of Habana and what life was like in a happier Habana. Luis was an excellent cook an loved cooking intricate plates for many.
The Barroso night at the beach consisted of a rich meal with Luis cooking for as many as 40 or more people. These happy times I will always remember.
Luis was generous in sharing his knowledge and experience with those in need of medical care. I will forever remember this quality in him and be grateful for it.
It is with much sadness that I try to capture so many memories and emotions with only a few words.
May the hearts of his dear wife Jen and children be filled with the peace of God and the wonderful memories of the happier times you shared

Dr. Luis Barroso was a wonderful man and physician colleague. I met him on my first day as an ID physician at Florida Hospital East Orlando (now Advent Health) in 2001. He welcomed me and offered his mentorship right from the start. I enjoyed working with him on patient care daily until his retirement. Dr. Barroso was loved by his patients and his colleagues. I miss how he entertained doctors in his "office" during our coffee breaks and his passing brings tears to my eyes. God bless Luis and his family.

So sorry to hear of his passing. Luis was a great person. I will always remember going to your house as a kid. The poodles and the Koi fish. The Halloween parties. Oh how I could go on with the memories. You were always so nice to me when I (Molly) was at Florida East while I had my surgical tech rotation back in the day. Jennifer we all are thinking of you and your family.

Dear Barroso family,

Please accept our deepest condolences on the passing Luis, Sr. Our hearts ache for your loss. Words cannot convey how sorry we were to learn of the news. May you draw some comfort from knowing Luis, Sr. is at peace in his eternal rest, knowing you have each other to find comfort in this difficult time.

My memories of Dr. Barroso are vivid and warm. He had a great and distinct sense of humor, was generous, a wonderful chef, and a truly authentic person. I will always remember his jokes.

When I last saw him for the baptism years ago, we spoke alone for a few minutes. He expressed his frustration with ND football and his passion shone through. In our conversation, it became obvious how proud he was of all his family, and how gratified he was to see his sons grown up. He loved his family, all of you, very much.

Though any words will fail to ameliorate your sorrow, please know that all of the Leamans are praying and will continue to pray for you to find solace in each other's company. We also pray for the peace of God to live in your hearts, knowing that no one who is loved, is ever truly gone. May Dr. Barroso live on in your hearts and memories.

God bless you and your entire family.

With sorrow and deepest condolences,
Scott, Amy, Timmy and Teddy Leaman
