Luis Silvester Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Scillieri-Arnold Funeral Home - Paterson on Dec. 27, 2025.
Luis G. Silvester, 78, of Paterson, New Jersey, passed away on December 21, 2025, just days after celebrating his wife's 60th birthday.
Born on May 23, 1947, in San Pedro de Macorís, Dominican Republic, Luis came to the United States with the dream of playing baseball-a passion many knew him for and remembered him by. Even after his early years, he continued to play and enjoy softball, sharing the game with the same community he helped build, guide, and uplift through Casa Dominicana. In 1989, he married Juliana Silvester, and together they built a life centered on family, purpose, and connection. He was a man truly dedicated to God and Luis's soul now journeys to his final resting place surrounded by family and loved ones.
Luis was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, friend, and so much more. He welcomed everyone with kindness in his heart, and his warmth touched the lives of many through his profound generosity, sense of humor, strength, and unwavering resolve to care for those he loved. He possessed an uncanny ability to connect people and had a rare gift for building community wherever he found himself.
Those who knew Luis knew his voice well-especially over the phone. Every call began with energy, a familiar nickname, or a quick quip that immediately brought a smile. He was also known for being a passionate and sometimes formidable arguer, a trait shared with conviction and heart. It was a part of his strong personality that people admired, laughed about warmly, and ultimately loved him for.
Luis lived with a clear purpose: to lead and uplift the next generation. He was an exemplary supervisor and employee during his years working as a stamping pressman at Berk Gold Stamping and 21st Century. He also fulfilled his calling as Commissioner of Youth Guidance with Paterson City Hall, as Director of Sports, and as former President of Casa Dominicana. His love for his culture shined through during his years serving on the committee for the Dominican Parade in Paterson, New Jersey, earning respect through dedication and integrity.
Above all, Luis was the heart of his vibrant and loving family-a devoted father of four and husband whose presence brought joy, stability, and pride to those around him.
