Luis Vasquez, 64, of Waukegan, passed away on Wednesday, January 1, 2025, at Elevate Care Riverwoods.
Luis was born on August 25, 1960, in Tuxpan, Guerrero, Mexico, to Raymondo and Epfina (Morales) Vasquez. He married Sara Morales on January 6, 1980, at Iglesia San Andrés Apóstol. After their wedding, the couple moved first to Arizona and then to Waukegan, where they raised their family and built a life together.
Luis worked for over 30 years at the Gallagher Corporation in Gurnee and was known for his exceptional craftsmanship and dedication. He was a true jack-of-all-trades, and whether it was fixing something around the house or helping a neighbor with a project, Luis was always there to lend a hand. His love for the outdoors also kept him busy, as he enjoyed working on outdoor projects.
A loving husband, father, and grandfather, Luis was deeply devoted to his family. He was the father of seven children: the late Rigo Berto (1980), Louis Vasquez of North Chicago, Rodolfo Vasquez of Waukegan, Vanessa Vasquez of Waukegan, David Vasquez of Gurnee, Yesenia Vasquez of Beach Park, and the late Abraham Vasquez (2000). He was also the proud grandfather of 14 grandchildren: Anthony, Lianely, Abraham, Desserai, Iliana, Isaiah, Adrian, Saniya, Kalia, Messiah, late Jaiyana, Heavenly, Jesus, Elias, and Noah. Additionally, he will be missed by the family dog, Neena, who was a beloved companion.
Luis was also a father figure to many of his nieces and nephews and was known for his generosity, wisdom, and the love he shared with all of his extended family. His kind and humble nature made him a friend to many, and he will be remembered for his unwavering support and the positive impact he had on those around him.
Luis is survived by his loving wife of 45 years, Sara; their seven children; 14 grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family members. He is preceded in death by his parents, his sons Rigo Berto and Abraham, and other loved ones.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, January 5, 2025, from 5:00 to 7:00 PM at Seguin & Symonds Funeral Home, 858 Sheridan Road, Highwood, IL. A second visitation will be held on Monday, January 6, 2025, from 9:00 AM until the time of funeral mass at 10:00 AM at Most Blessed Trinity Parish, 450 Keller Avenue, Waukegan, IL 60085. Interment will follow at Ascension Cemetery, Libertyville, Illinois.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to [charity or cause, if applicable].
Luis will be remembered for his dedication to his family, his love for the outdoors, and his generosity. His legacy will live on in the hearts of those who had the privilege of knowing him.
