Luisa Noemí Wilson, born in Mar del Plata, Argentina, on July 4, 1932, to José Reginato and María del Carmen Chiocchi, passed away in the early hours of Sunday, May 26, 2024. Noemí moved to the U.S. from Argentina in 1963 and married her loving husband, James Johnston Wilson, in the Los Angeles Temple. Together, they raised five children: Alex, Mary Ann, Michelle, Lyman, and Mike.
A devoted and faithful wife, Noemí met James in Argentina. After he returned to the U.S., they began corresponding, which soon turned into 3 years of love letters and a long-distance romance. Saving every bit they could, James took on extra jobs to fly Noemí and Alex to the U.S. Soon after their arrival, they were sealed for all time and eternity in the Los Angeles Temple. They were inseparable, and even a day apart was too much for them to bear. Noemí and James's life was a grand adventure, living in Utah, Missouri, Chile, Texas, Paraguay, Argentina, Peru, and Honduras. In their later years, they served missions in Peru, Chile, and Honduras, spreading their unwavering faith and love.
A woman of many passions, Noemí adored animals, especially her little dog and constant companion, Lulu. She was an avid embroiderer and pencil-colorer of flowers and birds, finding joy in the vibrant hues and intricate designs. Reading and crossword puzzles were also among her favorite pastimes, and her love for music, especially hymns and the stylings of Julio Iglesias, meant she was often found humming or whistling her favorite tunes. In truth, she would hum pretty much anything playing in the background, whether it be classical, jazz, elevator music, rock or hip-hop. She just loved a good melody.
Noemí was a pillar of faith and service, dedicating her life to church work and serving as Relief Society President on numerous occasions. Her unconditional love and charitable nature touched countless lives, always willing to make sacrifices for those in need without expecting anything in return.
Her laugh was contagious, her optimism unwavering. Noemí loved being with others, especially her family. She was the best mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother anyone could hope for, teaching her children to be good men and women through her own exemplary life. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren brought her immense joy, and she cherished every moment spent with them.
Noemí's life was a testament to joy, faith, and unwavering love. She lived excellently and fully, bringing happiness to everyone around her until the very end. She is survived by her husband, James; her children, Alex (Jeannie), Mary Ann (Jared), Michelle (Cheryl), Lyman (Lorena), and Mike (Tania); and her many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. We will forever miss her radiant smile, her infectious laugh, her whistling, and her boundless love.
