Elmo "Luke" Greene, age 83, of Strawberry Plains, TN passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by his loving family early December 25, 2024. Luke was the founder of E. Luke Greene Company, Inc. established in 1962. He was a longtime member of Pleasant Grove “Piney” Baptist Church. Luke was so much to so many but most importantly, he was a man of God, a brother, husband, daddy, papaw, and a wealth of knowledge. He was preceded in death by his parents, Clay and Mabel; siblings, Jerry, Wright, Randall, Byron, Carlin Greene and Anna L. Greene. He is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Josephine S. Greene. His children, Robin Haggard (Chris), Calvin Greene (Traci), Rita Grindstaff (Sam), and Stephanie Smith (Greg); 16 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; and siblings, Kenneth, Clay, Terry Greene, Niota Collins and Vonda Jones O’Dell. The family will receive friends at Beech Springs Baptist Church (337 West Mount Rd Kodak, TN) on Friday, December 27, 2024 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. The funeral service will be held on Saturday, December 28, 2024 at Beech Springs Baptist Church at 11:00 a.m. with the burial following at Pleasant Grove “Piney” Baptist Church. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Luke’s memory to Pleasant Grove “Piney” Baptist Church “Christian Helpers” (4749 Solomon Drive Strawberry Plains, TN 37871).
