Luke S. Perry, 45, a man with a big heart who cared so deeply for those around him, passed away suddenly from heart failure on October 21, 2023. He was born August 29, 1978, in Boise, ID, to Boyd and Terra (Piel) Perry. Luke was the youngest of five children. His sisters loved and adored him, while his brothers did everything they could to be rid of their tag-along brother. This fostered a competitive nature in Luke that he brought with him to adulthood. Rarely letting anyone win a game, whether a board or card game, basketball, pickleball, or golf. He was naturally athletic and loved to play any game. His family loved challenging him at games with colors, hoping they had the advantage because of his color blindness, but rarely did it work. Luke had many nieces, cousins, and extended family growing up that he cared deeply for. He always talked warmly about 'raising' his niece Lela when he was very young. He loved spending time with his family and would do anything for them, no matter the hour or need. This never changed as he loved everyone around him and saw the good in all. Luke had an infectious smile and brought joy and happiness to those around him. He loved to serve and bring joy to those he met. Luke had a great love for the neighborhood kids. He took great delight in hopping them up on sugar, playing with them, talking with them, and then sending them back to their parents. They were frequently the highlight of his days.
Luke met, who he would often refer to as "Trouble," his adventurous wife at a singles ward activity. They married in the Salt Lake Temple on August 1, 2001. They had 22 years of adventures, trials, and laughs that gave them deep love and appreciation for each other. They had two children, Ethan and Caleb. Luke loved being a father and was so proud of them. He loved watching them grow and was excited to see them grow into the fine young men they are today. Luke shared with his boys his ADD trait, making for an exciting and chaotic home environment. His greatest joy was his family. He loved being with them at home, cuddled up, watching a movie, or on a wild adventure his wife had planned. He was always up for the challenges his wife placed before him and quickly became a master of fixing everything, thanks to YouTube, just to save a few bucks. He loved bargain-hunting thrift stores with his sons, something he had done with his Uncle growing up.
He had an unwavering love for his faith, which was central to his life. This was evidenced by his employment with The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He was the heart of his team and part of what made it feel like working with a family more than a work team.
Luke is survived by his loving wife, Tennille Perry, and their two sons, Elder Ethan Perry and Caleb Perry. He is also remembered by his mother, Terra Peil, and brother, Clint Perry. Luke is preceded in death by his father, Boyd Perry, and his siblings, Kim, Troy, and Trisitn Perry.
Luke's legacy of kindness, selflessness, and unwavering faith continue to inspire us. We will always remember the love and light he brought into our lives. Luke's memory will live on in the hearts of those who were blessed to know him, and his impact on this world will never be forgotten.
