Lula Manchester, beloved wife of William Manchester, entered eternal rest on Sunday, September 7, 2025 at her home.
She was born in Tennessee on March 2, 1949 to Joseph Henry Smith and Lula Lee Smith. Lula was the youngest child and had 11 older siblings. She was named after her mother, who passed away during childbirth. Lula was raised by her sister Christine and grew up with her niece, Freda, as a sister.
Lula completed education courses for both Business and Cosmetology. Lula took pride in her work as a fingerprint specialist for the Department of Justice, where she worked for 12 years. Lula also worked as a Beautician for many years.
Lula and her husband, William, met as pen pals when William was stationed with the Army in south Korea. Lula and William got married on January 4, 1986 and have been married for almost 40 years.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Joseph Henry Smith and Lula Lee Smith, and 8 of her older siblings.
Lula is survived by her husband, William Manchester, her son, William Brian Scott and his wife Starr, her brother, Max and his wife Mary, and sisters, Christine and Juanita, her grandchildren, Madison “Kat”, Brier, and Brittnie, and 4 great-grandchildren.
