Ramona was born the daughter of Aaron H. and Asia M. (Hite) Smith on January 13, 1930. She was the youngest of 12 children. She married Homer Austin Manchester on June 11, 1950. They were blessed with five children. Dennis, Kathleen, Douglas, Kimberly, and Derek. They made their family home in rural Decatur County, Iowa, until 1964 when the family moved to Madrid, Iowa. Ramona worked in a nursing home, at the Woodward Care center for brief periods but was for the most part a stay-at-home mother and provided childcare for neighbors in her home. She is survived and lovingly remembered by her three sons, Dennis Manchester of Madrid; Douglas Manchester and wife Pauline of Earlham, Iowa; and Derek Manchester and wife Jennifer of Waukee, Iowa; daughter Kathleen Koetsier and husband Edward of Eldon, Iowa. Five grandchildren, Brianne and Corey Wessels, Samantha and David Burk, Curtis and Hannah Manchester, Cameron Manchester and Caleb Manchester. Five great grandchildren. Cadence Wessels, Sydney Wessels, Ryan Wessels, James Burk, and Annika Burk; and a host of numerous nieces and nephews. Ramona was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years Homer, her parents, her 11 brothers and sisters; one daughter; Kimberly Kaye Manchester; and one grandson Aaron Lee Manchester.
The family will greet friends from 5-7pm on Friday August 22nd at the funeral home.
