Obituary of Lulie "Mae" Shelton Buffin
Lulie Mae Shelton Buffin (90) went home to be with her loving Lord and Savior Jesus Christ February 8, 2024. She is preceded in death by her loving husband of almost 37 years, Marion Kenneth Buffin.
Mae was born in Lexington, KY. April 23, 1933 to the late John Shelton and Thelma Whitt Shelton. She is survived by her children, Michael (Karen) Buffin, Phillip (Debbie) Buffin, and Sandy (Glenn) Baker, 7 grandchildren, Alicia (Michael) Baker, Tonya (William) Murphy, Candice (Danny) Eades, Ashley (Kevin) Madison, Christy (Matt) Jones, Thad (Kelly) Baker, and Dean (Carol) Baker. She had 18 great-grandchildren and 7 great-great grandchildren.
Mae was the 2nd oldest of 9 children. She is survived by her sisters, Mary Alexander, Barbara Nash, and Sue (David) Griffith, and her brother, Bobby (Debbie) Shelton, brother-in-law, Harold (Carolyn) Buffin, and numerous nieces and nephews whom she loved. Mae was preceded in death by her brother, Jay Shelton, and her sisters, Anna Staley, Ida Tate, and Betty Ockerman.
She was a member at Forks of Elkhorn Baptist Church, where she taught Sunday School for many years. She retired from the Cabinet for Human Resources as an Administrative Secretary and had been owner/operator of Ducker's Station Grocery. She was an avid novel reader and lover of crossword puzzles, but her passion was her family. She helped Sandy keep up with the updates for the Shelton Family directory, which she referred to as, "the family Blue Book".
A celebration of her life will be held Tuesday, February 13, 2024, at 1 pm at Forks of Elkhorn Baptist Church, 495 Duckers Rd, Midway, KY, officiated by Pastor Todd Lester. Visitation will be from 11 am until time of service. A private burial for immediate family will be held at Sunset Memorial Gardens, Frankfort.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in memory of Lulie Mae Buffin to Forks of Elkhorn Baptist Church.
