Lura Dee Ann Merrell

As we gather to celebrate the life of Lura Dee Ann (Campbell) Merrell, we remember a woman whose beauty and grace touched everyone she knew. She was born on October 30, 1950, in Ponca City, Oklahoma. She is preceded in death by her parents, Joe and Christine (Hunsaker)White. Lura spent her 74 years exuding warmth and charm that remains unforgettable. She journeyed peacefully to a better place on March 18, 2025, at Circle of Life Hospice, leaving a legacy of devotion and love. Lura was more than just a devoted wife and mother; she was the rock of her family, always putting her daughters first with unyielding support and profound care. Her late husband, Mike Merrell, shared a wonderful life with her. Together, they raised their daughters with an infectious zest for life. Though her beloved daughter Stephanie predeceased her, Lura is survived by her two remarkable daughters, Mekelle and Mary Merrell, who carry forward her light and spirit. Also, survived by Lura are her grandchildren Olivia Swicegood, Amelia Merrell, and the man of the family, Brooks Merrell, brother Nathan Campbell and wife, Cathy Campbell, brother Jack Campbell, Nephew Scott Campbell, and Niece Tonya Soule and husband Bruce.
A powerhouse in the professional world, Lura was a skilled real estate appraiser. Many knew her for her sharp intellect and keen eye for detail. But beyond her professional success, she remained deeply embedded in her community, often found cheering from the sidelines at every event her daughters were involved in.
Lura's dimples and smile were undeniably her trademarks, lighting up any room she entered. Her social nature and pleasant demeanor made her a magnet for friendships and joyous gatherings. She embodied the essence of community spirit, leaving behind a tapestry of cherished memories with all who were lucky enough to know her.
