Luther McEwan "Mack" Cain, Jr., 91, of Versailles, KY, went to His glorious home on Thursday, December 5, 2024. Luther was born on September 1, 1933, in Bath County, KY, to the late Luther McEwan Cain, Sr. and Mary Sadie Carter Cain.
He graduated from Bath County High School and then Asbury College in 1955. Luther served as a pastor in Robertson County for 2 years and later retired from Rand McNally after 32 years. During his years of work and retirement, he faithfully served as a song leader and Sunday school teacher for over 60 years. He was a volunteer fireman for Station #5 in Woodford County for 26 years and served for many years on the Fire Board. For 34 years, Luther proudly spread God's Word as a Woodford County Gideon.
He is loved as a son, brother, twin, husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He is remembered as the family Boggle champion and master toymaker by all the grandchildren.
Luther lived a life marked by great faithfulness, humble service, and quiet generosity. Luther and Jean's home has always been a haven of love, laughter, and joy. His faith in Jesus has blessed and will continue to bless generations.
Luther was preceded in death by his parents; his four siblings, Ida Hill, Mary Lillian, Christine, and Ben; and his son, Charlie. He is survived by Jean, his faithful wife of 67 years; children, Sharon (David) Meade, John (Lucy) Cain, Margaret (Rusty) Watkins, Linda (Rick) Graebe, and daughter-in-law, Peggy Hall Monroe; and brother-in-law, John Wayne (Marilyn) Webber. He leaves a legacy of 8 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers are Michael Cain, Justin Woodside, McKinley Flint, TA Rankin, Josh Fraley, Chris Wood, and Justin Perpar. Honorary pallbearers are John Wayne Webber, Scott Slatten, Orville Coyle, Phil Cloyd, Wendell Lawson, Buddy Britton, Jimmy Downey, and Gary Barkman.
A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, December 10th at King's Way Church, 4175 Lexington Road, Versailles, KY. Visitation will be from 10:00 AM - 12:00 PM. Service will take place at 12:00 PM. Burial will follow immediately at Sunset Memorial in Frankfort, KY, after the service.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to the Woodford County Gideon Camp, P.O. Box 196, Versailles, KY 40383, or Bluegrass Care Navigators, 643 Teton Trail, Frankfort, KY 40601.
