Luther R. "Razor" Johnson, 93, of Norris City passed away on Sunday, August 3, 2025 at home surrounded by his family. He was born in Norris City on July 1, 1932 the son of Herman and Carrie Caroline (Dillard) Johnson. Razor married Ella Lee Camp on November 29, 1958 and she preceded him in death on April 12, 2019.
Razor began his lifelong service to his country and community when he joined the U.S. Army after his sophomore year in high school and served 4 years. After being discharged from the Army he joined the U.S. Air Force and served for 28 years and retired as a Chief Master Sergeant. After returning to Norris City, he served 30 years with the Indian Creek Township, 12 years as a trustee and the final 18 as Supervisor, retiring in December 2007. Razor also served 30 years with the White County Democratic Party. He was a lifetime member of the Carmi VFW and the Norris City American Legion, Razor was a Mason, joining in 1955 while stationed in Anchorage, Alaska before transferring to the Norris City May Lodge. He enjoyed spending time with his family, along with hunting and fishing.
Razor is survived by his two children, Michael Johnson of Norris City and Kim (Bill) Cushman of Springerton; a brother, Jerry "Gig" Johnson of Norris City; three grandchildren, Zach (Gena) Cushman, Megan (Charles) Bush and Dusty (Chelsea) Cushman; and two great-grandchildren, Kinzie and Bodie. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife and a brother, Freeman Johnson.
Funeral Services for Luther R, "Razor" Johnson, 93, of Norris City will be held at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, August 6, 2025 at Campbell Funeral Home in Norris City. Burial will follow with full military honors in I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Norris City. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, August 5, 2025 from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Campbell Funeral Home in Norris City, where Masonic Rites will be held at 7:30 p.m. Friends may also visit on Wednesday, from 9:00 a.m. until service time. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Razor's memory to the American Cancer Society, envelopes will be available at the funeral home or can be mailed to Campbell Funeral Home, 609 W. Main St., Carmi, IL 62821
