Zebulon, Georgia - Luther James Rayburn, 94 of Zebulon, GA died Friday, January 30, 2026, at Brightmoor Hospice in Griffin, GA. Mr. Rayburn was born October 29, 1931, in Columbus, GA the son of Gordy Isador Rayburn, Sr. and Catheryn Pye Rayburn. He proudly served in the US Navy during the "Korean Conflict" and was Honorably Discharged. He retired with Van, Waters and Rogers Chemical Co. in Texas as an Import Director. He worked with Pittsburgh Paint & Glass and Hardware Sales earlier in his career. He was a former member and served as a deacon at the First Baptist Church of Manchester and attended First Baptist Church in Shiloh, GA. He was preceded in death by his parents, first wife of 57 years, Dorothy Ann Rayburn, siblings Gerald Rayburn, Tommy Rayburn, Mary (Rayburn) Barron and Dick Rayburn. He is survived by his wife Berta Alexander Rayburn of Zebulon, Ga., brother Gordy (Ike) Rayburn, Jr. of La Grange Ga., daughter Cheryl Patrick of Cumming, Ga., sons Greg & Kathy Rayburn of Magnolia, Tx., and Mark Rayburn of Colmesneil,Tx. He was blessed to have enjoyed 7 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren. He also is survived by the extended family of Barry & Millie Alexander of Zebulon, Ga., Karen (Alexander) & Phillip DeTrolio of Suwanee, Ga. and Tracy (Alexander) & Jim Sessions of Zebulon, Ga. He also enjoyed, in the extended family, 3 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. Memorial graveside services will be held at the Old Shiloh Cemetery, 21659 SR-116 Shiloh, Ga., February 28, 2026 at 1:00 pm. The family will receive friends prior to the service at Old Shiloh Cemetery. Family and friends will gather to celebrate Jim's life following the graveside service at Slaughter's Grill, 1131 N. Main Street, Shiloh GA 31826 Cox Funeral Home, Manchester will be in charge of the arrangements.
