Richard Webb Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Moody-Daniel Funeral Home & Cremation Services on Feb. 24, 2026.
Richard Toombs Webb, of Griffin, Georgia, passed peacefully into his heavenly home on February 22, 2026, at the age of 77. Born on April 23, 1948, in Douglasville, Georgia, Richard was the beloved son of Toombs and Mildred Webb. He was a proud Georgian whose roots ran deep in the community where he was raised. Richard was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend. He is survived by his loving wife, Phyllis "Sunny" York, and by his many children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews who will forever cherish his love and presence. He is also survived by his sister, Rebecca (William) Albertson. Richard's life was marked by devotion to his family and faith. His legacy lives on in the generations he helped shape, the stories shared around family tables, and the steady love he gave so freely. Though he will be deeply missed, his family finds comfort in knowing he has entered his eternal home.

Richard lived a full, generous, and joy-filled life that left a lasting mark on everyone who knew him. He earned his Doctorate in Pharmacy from Mercer University and went on to own and operate his own pharmacy, serving his community with dedication. An athlete at heart, Richard played basketball and baseball for Douglas County High School and continued his athletic career at Mercer University. His love of sports stayed with him throughout his life. Richard was an avid outdoorsman who cherished God's creation. He loved hunting bear, deer, and turkey, and he especially loved fishing - most of all fly fishing the creeks of North Georgia. Those quiet waters brought him peace and joy. More than anything, Richard loved his wife and high school sweetheart, Sunny and he was the light of her life. He treasured her deeply and made every day special. Their love was evident to everyone who saw them together. In the almost 15 years that they were together, they never spent a day apart. They called it "NADA" - "never a day apart". He was loving, kind, generous, and truly a beautiful man inside and out. Richard enjoyed connecting with people. He loved listening, talking, and sharing stories. A lifelong learner and prolific reader, he was even ranked among the top Kindle readers in the nation - a testament to his curiosity and love of knowledge. In retirement, he found joy in planting, gardening, carpentry, and baking - and he was known for making the best strawberry cake in the South. Whether he was casting a line, planting something new, building with his hands, or sharing a slice of cake, Richard brought warmth and thoughtfulness to everything he did. He will be terribly missed, but his kindness, laughter, and love will live on in all who were blessed to know him.

Friends and family are invited to drop in for a Celebration of Life on March 14 from 2:00–4:00 PM at Moody-Daniel Funeral Home, 10170 Hwy 19 N, Zebulon, GA.

Hydrangeas were Richard's favorite flower and a treasured part of his garden. In lieu of other arrangements, if you would like to send flowers, the family kindly requests hydrangeas to honor his memory and continue making his gardens beautiful.
