Lydia Jorge

Lydia Jorge, age 94, passed away peacefully on February 15, 2026. A longtime resident of Kenner, Louisiana, Lydia was born to the late Francisco Garcia and Maria Julia Garcia. She immigrated to the United States 45 years ago, where she built a life centered around faith, family, and love.

Lydia was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Manuel Jorge; her parents; and her siblings Eliseo, Crescencio, Dulce, Sarah, Georgina, Francisco, and Celia Garcia.

She is survived by her loving children, Vilma M. Morales and her husband Osvaldo Morales, and Wilhelm Jorge. She also leaves behind her cherished grandchildren, Wallezka, and Stacy M.; great-grandchildren Nicole Simmons, Madison Simmons, and Amelia Bergeron; and great-great-grandchild Madalynn Simmons. Lydia is also survived by her brother Alberto Garcia, along with many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends who will miss her deeply.

Lydia was known for her humble and caring spirit. She found her greatest joy in spending time with her family, listening to music, and sharing laughter over card games and dominoes. Her warmth, kindness, and devotion to those she loved will remain a lasting legacy in the hearts of all who knew her.

Family and friends are invited to celebrate Lydia's life and honor her memory with a Catholic Mass on Tuesday, February 24, 2026 at Garden of Memories Funeral Home, 4900 Airline Dr., Metairie, LA 70001 for 12noon. Visitation will begin at 10AM. Interment will follow at Garden of Memories Cemetery.
