Lydia Iris Padro

Lydia Iris Padro, age 96, of Elgin, IL, passed away on December 30, 2024. She was born June 28, 1928 in Manati, PR to her loving parents, Martin Otero and Filomena Class.
Lydia met her husband, Angel, through a mutual friend. They sent letters back and forth to each other and then got married in Puerto Rico. They were married 67 years, and together raised three children.
She was a very caring wife and mother, who loved her family and enjoyed cooking for them. She had a very contagious laugh, and was always cheerful. She was very protective of her children and grandchildren.
She loved to read her Bible and pray the rosary. She also enjoyed knitting and crocheting.
Lydia is survived by her husband, Angel Padro; children, Norma Contreras, Louis Padro, and Felix Ramos; grandchildren, Diana Ferreris and Raul Ferreris; and niece, Gloria Rodriguez.
Visitation will be 10:00am until funeral service at 1:00pm, Tuesday, January 7, 2025, at Symonds-Madison Funeral Home, 305 Park Street, Elgin, IL 60120. Fr. Robert Camacho will be officiating.
Interment to follow at Arlington Cemetery, 401 E. Lake Street, Elmhurst, IL 60126.
