LYLE LESLIE DELAVAN Lyle Leslie Delavan, 84, of Glenwood, Iowa, died Friday, August 11, 2023, at The Living Center in Marshall, Mo. Graveside services will be 2 p.m. Thursday, August 17, 2023, at Tabor Cemetery. A viewing will be held from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. at Marshall Funeral Chapel in Tabor, Iowa. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to Good Shepherd Hospice of Warrensburg, Mo. Born February 20, 1939, in Glenwood, he was the son of the late Dallas Wilford and Lucille Marie (Kirk) Delavan. He graduated from Tabor High School in 1958, and then served two years in the National Guard. He worked at Glenwood State School, retiring after many years of service. Lyle loved to be active; exercising, riding motorcycles, bicycles, and rollerskating well into his 70's! He was always a kid at heart, which made him a wonderful grandpa. He loved spending quality, fun time with his grandchildren while they were growing up, as well as his great nieces and nephews. He was "grandpa" to many! Lyle is survived by two daughters, Diane Phegley (Dean) of Marshall and Brenda Martin (Dave) of Sweet Springs, Mo.; Joe Kelly (Lori) of Concordia, Mo., whom he considered a son; four grandchildren: Andrew Phegley, Austin Phegley (Sarah), Adam Martin (Erica), and Caleb Martin; two great-grandchildren: Harper and Ryelee Phegley; sister-in-law Susie Delavan; as well as many much loved nieces and nephews. Lyle was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Kenneth Delavan.
