Lyle Elmer Dickens, 87 of Greeley, CO passed away peacefully on April 8, 2025. He was born in Watonga, OK on February 22, 1938, to Frances (Davis) and Elmer Dickens. He was raised on a farm near Watonga. He married Sandra (Meek) Dickens in 1958. They raised three children – Carol Dickens, Cary (Suzi) Dickens, and Caren (Mark) Karns. Lyle lived a full life. He worked as a math teacher and for the New Mexico highway department. He took an opportunity to be one of the first computer analysts when he was offered a job at the Denver Regional Council of Governments, where he worked for 30 years. He got back to his farming roots after he retired, raising hay on a small acreage near LaSalle, CO. He eventually retired to Greeley in the warmer months and Surprise, AZ in the cooler months. He was active in his children's activities, even becoming a Girl Scout leader for a time. He loved bowling and horseback riding in his younger years and took up pickle ball as he got older. He was a genius at solving cryptoquotes and crossword puzzles. In addition to his wife and children, he is survived by his sister Nancy Irion, 5 grandchildren (Kayla Dickens, Ashley Moran, Ryan Karns, Kelly Karns, Sydney Dickens) and 1 great grandchild (Jesse). He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister Donna Redington.

So sorry to read of Lyell`s death. I got to know Lyell and Sandy when they lived in the LaSalle area his sister had just moved next-door to us and that is how I met Lyell and Sandy come to find out Lyell and Sandy were also our neighbors about a mile and a half from us and we had never met them. We soon got to know him and enjoyed time with him. The last time I saw him was three or four years ago in the LaSalle for LaSalle days. Our thoughts and prayers go out to you, Sandy and Nancy. Sorry to hear about losing a brother. It´s always hard. You are in our thoughts and prayers. Gary and Mary Lou Schissler.
