Obituary published on Legacy.com by Florence Mortuary on Feb. 20, 2026.
Lynda Louise Lock, 77, of
Canon City, CO, passed away February 15, 2026 with her daughters at her side. She was born January 6, 1949, in
Monte Vista, CO to Keith and Fay Marsh. She spent her youth in Monte Vista,
Wheatland, WY, and
Montrose, CO, before moving to
Florence, CO, at 16. She graduated as the valedictorian of Florence High School class of 1966. Her life changed forever in January 1967 when she was involved in a car/train accident which left her a paraplegic, but that didn't slow her down much at all. She married Dennis Eugene Lock on October 26, 1968, in Canon City. They were married for 31 years until his death in January 2000. After her marriage, Dennis and Lynda continued to serve as full-time ministers of Jehovah's Witnesses until they welcomed their first daughter, Mysia. They completed their family with two more daughters, Tawnya and Serena, and Lynda liked to say they traded two pioneers for three pioneers as all three girls also served in various forms of full-time service throughout their lives.
Lynda loved being a housewife and never let her disabilities slow her down but excelled at things like cooking and canning, crocheting and sewing, (including making complete men's suits for Dennis and matching outfits for all four girls each year for the district convention). Before her accident she had enjoyed horseback riding, dancing, and being a musician including playing the clarinet in the orchestra at the circuit assemblies of Jehovah's Witnesses. She also loved playing the piano and organ and taught her three girls how to play. After she became paralyzed, she couldn't press the piano pedals anymore so she had them do it for her. She loved singing as well, and her daughters and grandkids have fond memories of hearing both theocratic songs like "Worship Jehovah During Youth" and other songs like "Bushel and a Peck" sung together repeatedly often while doing the dishes or putting jigsaw puzzles together. After her accident, she still did things you wouldn't think possible and loved playing mini golf and driving all over on cross country road trips in the van Dennis bought her. Everyone has a funny story about her falling out of her wheelchair.
Of course, her greatest loves and greatest joy were her family and serving Jehovah. She was baptized as one of Jehovah's Witnesses at the age of six on July 8, 1955, at Wrigley Field in Los Angeles, CA. She was a member of the Monte Vista, Wheatland, Montrose, Canon City, and Skyline congregations throughout her lifetime and was always faithful about attending meetings and doing what she could for others. Even in later years when she was mostly bedridden, she was always faithfully attending and commenting via Zoom and enjoyed inviting ones to her house to share hospitality with them. She also loved talking about Jehovah and sharing the Bible with anyone she could including home health care workers, Meals on Wheels volunteers, and others who visited, and the doctors and nurses on the last day of her life. She was truly faithful and courageous to the very end.
Mrs. Lock is survived by her children, Mysia (Rick) Wolfe and Serena (Rick) Love of
Canon City, CO; and Justin (Tawnya) Alarid of Caniço, Madeira, Portugal; grandchildren, Lexis (Garet) Bonebrake of Tuxedo Park, NY; Kai (Sydney) Alarid of
Colorado Springs, CO; and George and Isabella Alarid by Justin's second wife, Sarah; three cousins, Gary, Len, and Neil Marsh, and other extended family and countless friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Dennis; and daughter, Tawnya Alarid.
