Lynda S. Obremski (nee Hyde) was born in Ashland, Ohio, on October 12, 1947, to the late Margaret Hyde of Melrose Park, IL and the late Darwin Hyde of Ashland, OH. She passed away peacefully after an unexpected diagnosis of cancer on November 6th, 2025 at the age of 78.
Lynda grew up in Chicago, graduated from Austin High School and went on to complete beauty school. She styled wigs at the Wieboldt's department store in Chicago, and later did hair for several years in her home in Woodridge and Downers Grove. Over her lifetime, her love for cooking was shared with family and friends, who all loved her home cooked meals and desserts, especially pizza, pierogis, popcorn, cookies, soups and appetizers for every family gathering. Over the years, Lynda cooked at O'Neill Junior High, Downers Grove South High School, and at Good Samaritan Hospital in Downers Grove, Illinois. She was the head chef and made lunch for all the employees for over 15 years at Miner in Geneva, of where she retired from Aramark.
Lynda loved her flowers as her yard was always in bloom every spring and summer. She'd sprinkle seeds everywhere, and shared her plants with all. She loved her vegetable garden too, especially "purple Cherokee heirloom tomatoes." She loved sewing, crocheting and knitting-especially doll clothes, holiday decorations, and afghans. She loved reading, jigsaw puzzles, watching "General Hospital," and family nights of Scrabble games. Her grandchildren meant the world to her, she spent every moment she could loving, spoiling, talking and being there no matter when and where.
She lived in Bolingbrook, IL for 30 years, and in 2022 moved to Plano, IL to be closer to her family. Lynda is survived by her daughter Denise (nee Obremski) and son-in-law Jason Krizizke of Montgomery and her son Ken and daughter-in-law Beth (nee Jones) Obremski of Sugar Grove. Grandma O also leaves behind her grandchildren: Jessica Allen (nee Obremski) and her husband Jeremy, Jacob Obremski, Emma Obremski, and Alexilynne Krizizke. She will be greatly missed by her great-fur babies too. Her cousin Barb Rimmert will also miss her dearly. All her neighbors, friends and family were blessed to have had Lynda share life with them.
To the nurses at Rush Copley Hospital, Asbury Gardens, and Divine Hospice, thank you for caring for our mom / grandma during the last weeks of Lynda's amazing life. There will be a "Celebration of Lynda's Life" to be held by her family in the spring.
