Lynda Levie Whitten, age 86, passed away the morning of Sunday, May 18th, peacefully at her home. Born and raised in Albertville, Lynda attended Albertville High School and the former Stratford University. After teaching school for a short time in Rome, GA, she returned to Albertville to marry and begin her family.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Hoyt Benton Levie and Mattilee Bains Levie, and brother, Dr. Ben Levie.
Survivors include her son Thomas (Melody) Whitten of Guntersville, Caroline Whitten of Huntsville, Heather (Russ) Biciste of Pelham and her adopted daughter and caregiver Debbie Duvall.
Lynda's ministry was sending greeting cards to the sick and homebound. But she was also famous for her chocolate pies and had those she loved on a regular schedule for pie delivery.
A small graveside service will be held on Wednesday, May 21 at 2:00 pm at Memory Hill Cemetery Gardens with Reverend Shari Harrison officiating the service. Adams Brown Funeral Home is managing all arrangements.
She was an avid supporter of Judson College and an active member of Christ Episcopal Church in Albertville. Therefore, in lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Christ Episcopal Church or Shepherds Cove Hospice.
