RUMSON-LYNETTE JOY ZOHN, born on November 2, 1960, in Wheaton, Illinois, peacefully passed away after a courageous battle with frontal temporal dementia for the past 17 years. She was married to Dr. Ira J Zohn for 35 years, and together they built a life filled with love and cherished memories.
Lynette's journey in life was marked by a rich tapestry of experiences. She graduated from Wheaton North High School and pursued her education at Loyola University in Chicago. Her adventurous spirit led her to spend a semester studying in Rome, broadening her horizons.
She initially trained as a dental hygienist, and her dedication led to an acceptance into dental school. However, she followed her passion for aviation and embarked on a career as a flight attendant, serving with People Express, Continental Airlines, and United Airlines. Her versatility knew no bounds. In addition to working as a licensed dental hygienist, she also was a certified licensed esthetician. Lynette ventured into professional modeling as well, showcasing her beauty and grace.
Lynette's most cherished roles were that of a mother and wife. She was the proud mother of two sons, David, married to Rebecca, and Dylan, married to Emily. Additionally, Lynette embraced her role as a stepmother to Darin, married to Lisa, and Steven, married to Jessica. Her love extended to her four grandchildren, Abygale, Amelya, Austin and Tyler.
Lynette was preceded in death by her brother, David, but she remained connected to her sister, Lauri Schroeder, who resides in Illinois with her husband, Keith, and their daughter, Briana McCarthy.
Her mother, Laverne Emmering, continues to live in Illinois, while her father, Dr. Thomas Emmering, is remembered fondly, although he has passed on.
She was a remarkable woman whose vivacious spirit and caring nature touched the lives of all who had the privilege of knowing her. She was passionate about physical fitness, skiing, and exercising, but her greatest joy came from caring for others and creating a loving home. Despite the challenges she faced, Lynette lived life to the fullest when she was well.
Lynette's absence will be deeply felt by her immediate family, friends, and extended family. Her legacy of love and warmth will be cherished by all who were fortunate to be a part of her life. In her memory, we celebrate a life well-lived, and she will remain forever in our hearts.
A graveside service will be held on Monday, October 30, 2023, at 10:45 am, at Beth Israel Cemetery, 1000 Woodbridge Center Dr., Woodbridge, under the direction of MOUNT SINAI MEMORIAL CHAPELS, East Brunswick. For directions, please visit our "Services" page.
