Lynne Sullivan, 77, of Monroe Township, passed away on Sunday, November 19, 2023, at her home, surrounded by her loving family.
Born in Plainfield to Joseph and Carolyn Sullivan, she resided in Jersey City before moving to Old Bridge in the early 80s. In June of this year she moved to Monroe Township.
Lynne graduated from Plainfield High School in 1964 and became a member of the PHS Class of 1964 Scholarship Committee which she continued until the decline of her health in January of this year. After high school, Lynne joined the Sisters of Charity of Saint Elizabeth in Convent Station, NJ as Sister Carol Joseph. Even though she left in 1966, she still kept in close touch and remained a part of the "Band of '64" for the following 59 years. Lynne joined Beta Sigma Pi in 1996 and just recently celebrated her 27th anniversary with them.
As a mother, she was very active in her children's' lives; girl scout leader, PTA President of Madison Park Elementary School, Carl Sandburg Middle School and Old Bridge High School and a committed dance mom for 21 years, among many other things.
Prior to retiring in October, Lynne was an administrative assistant for the guidance department at Old Bridge High School and has been working for the Old Bridge Township Public School district for over 25 years.
Lynne was a parishioner of St. Ambrose Roman Catholic Church in Old Bridge.
She loved spending time with friends and family and especially enjoyed spoiling her grandchildren any chance she could. She really enjoyed going out to eat, taking trips down the shore and a good Bloody Mary.
Lynne was predeceased by her parents, Joseph and Carolyn Sullivan.
Surviving are her three children, Amy Kotula and her spouse, Stephen, of Parlin, Carol Van Scoten and her spouse, Grant, of
El Paso, TX, and Joseph Amato and his spouse, Kim, of
Sterling, MA; her sister, Patricia Kochbarski and her spouse, Alan; her niece, Lauren, six grandchildren, Damien, Hailey, Evelyn and Adam Kotula, Grant and Madison Van Scoten, two step-grandchildren, Kyle and Ryan Beck and many extended family and friends.
Family and friends may visit on Wednesday, November 29, 2023, from 4:00 to 8:00 pm, at Old Bridge Funeral Home, 2350 Route 516, Old Bridge.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, November 30th, at 10:30 am, at St. Ambrose Roman Catholic Church, 81 Throckmorton Lane, Old Bridge. Cremation will be private.
