East Greenbush- M. Christine Yonkers, beloved sister, aunt, and friend, died at home on January 20, 2025. Christine was predeceased by her parents, Mary and Chris Yonkers of Rensselaer, NY. Born in Albany in 1962 and raised in Rensselaer, she was a graduate of Rensselaer Junior/Senior High School where she was a varsity cheerleader all 4 years of high school. She received her BA in English Education from SUNY Albany.
After college, Christine was a teacher at St. Joseph’s School in Rensselaer. Later she started working for NY State, first in the Department of Education, then moving to the Health Department, until her retirement.
Christine was always creative. Her family and friends often looked forward to her hand crafted and originally designed cards she sent for all occasions. In addition, she was an avid music fan of Journey and the Back Street Boys, and other musical performers. Some of her fondest memories were from her attendance at concerts with her many friends.
She leaves behind a sister, Patty (Tim) Bubniak and a brother Mike (Virginia) Yonkers; two nephews, Mark Bubniak and Adam (Giulia) Yonkers, and two nieces, Tara (Ryan) Voeltz, and Robyn Yonkers, and two great nieces and a great nephew. They have fond memories of Aunt Chi Chi always knowing what was cool and fun. She also leaves behind a close group of friends who were always there for her when she needed them: especially devoted, long-time friends Claudia Biondi, Tracey Stock, and JoAnn Downes. Christine will be missed by them all.
