M.L. "Larry" Saperstein, M.D., 82, of Seven Devils, NC, passed away quietly on December 4, 2024, in Washington, IL. He was born on April 27, 1942, to Hyman and Sadie (Prilutsky) Saperstein in Malden, MA.
He is survived by his wife of 24 years, Toni Marie; his brother, Joel (Helaine) Saperstein of Medford, MA; niece, Sheri Saperstein; nephew, Michael Saperstein; great-nephews, Kobe and Adam; and great-niece, Hannah.
Larry was the proud father of six children Lisa (Stu) Meltzer of Miami, FL, Jill Malman (Hank Tanzer) of Boca Raton, FL, Beth (George) Miller of Jacksonville, FL, Eric Saperstein of Orlando, FL, Marc Mallow (Sari) of New City, NY, and Amy Saperstein of St. Petersburg, FL.
He is also survived by 10 grandchildren, Hallie, Amy, Janelle, Tyler, Parker, Mallory, Cooper, Sydney, Ari, and Sage; many nieces and nephews; and his 15 plus brothers and sisters-in-law.
He held a special place in his heart for his stepchildren, Jamie (Bob) Burnett of Sharon, PA and Patrick Leonard, Jr. of Homosassa, FL; and granddaughters Adriana and Nya.
Larry graduated from Dartmouth College and attended Tufts School of Medicine. He is a retired Major of the US Air Force and practiced OB/GYN for 45 years in New Port Richey, FL, retiring in 2018. He spent his retirement in Seven Devils, NC with his wife and dogs. Larry was an avid Buccaneers Fan, enjoyed golfing and watching the Tampa Bay Rays baseball team.
He will be remembered for his kindness and always present smile.
Cremation rites have been accorded. Gary Deiters Funeral Home & Cremation Services in East Peoria is assisting the family.
