Mabel S. Schutz, 82, Wisconsin Rapids, formerly of Pittsville, passed away on Sunday, November 9, 2025 at Waterford Memory Care, Wisconsin Rapids.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11am on Saturday, November 15th, 2025 at St. Joachim Catholic Church, Pittsville with visitation from 9am until the time of service. Rev. Leo Raphael will officiate. Burial will follow at Mound Cemetery, Pittsville. Buchanan/Rembs Funeral Home is assisting the family.
Mabel was born on November 6, 1943 in Wisconsin Rapids to Vilas and Alida (Fay) Riggs. She attended school in Nekoosa and later attended Lincoln High in Wisconsin Rapids. Prior to her marriage she made her home with Kenneth and Helen Brahmsteadt. She met her future husband Larry O. Schutz Sr. while bartending at Twin Pines Pub and married him on April 27, 1963 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Wisconsin Rapids. He passed away on February 8, 2010.
She and her husband were founding members of the Little Bullmobilers Snowmobile Club and Charter Members of the Black River Falls HOG Chapter. Mabel was also a member of the St. Joachim PCCW and a booster for the Pittsville High School Wrestling Team.
A longtime employee of Ocean Spray in Babcock, she started as a cranberry sorter and worked her way up to Lab Technician. Mabel retired in 2013.
She is survived by her sons, Billy Schutz of Pittsville and Larry (Connie Tangen) Schutz Jr. Bruce, WI, daughter in law, Jo-Ellen Fairbanks-Schutz of Luxemburg, WI. She is further survived by grandchildren: AJ & Sam Schutz, and Deirdre Tangen, and one great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son, James "Jim" Schutz,
