Mack Johnson Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Bevis Funeral Home - Tallahassee on Jan. 19, 2026.
Mack Edward Johnson, Jr., ('Eddie') passed away January 16, 2026 at home.

Eddie, 76, was born on September 30, 1949 to Mack Edward Johnson, Sr. And Bernice Carraway.

Eddie was a graduate of Rickards high school. He was in the US Army and National Guard. Eddie primarily worked as an automotive mechanic for most of his life, owning and operating several repair shops and gas stations in Tallahassee during his lifetime.

Eddie absolutely loved his family, hunting, fishing, racing, going to the casinos and sometimes tormenting or messing with his loved ones and even his close friends.

He loved spending time with his 3 boys, all his grandkids, great grandkids and 3 of his sisters. Of course while enjoying that time, Linda, his wife of 58 years, was always by his side.

Eddie enjoyed going fishing and loved giving a cooler or bucket full of bream away to a stranger at the boat landing, or to his friends and neighbors.

He also was known to let others know exactly how passionate he was at times when hunting in the woods, or at the race track. He certainly made it known he was there.

Eddie was known for his passion and being full of vinegar. He would not back down from anything or anyone no matter if he was right or wrong. He always made his opinion known and made sure it was the only one that mattered. Eddie did things his way, Eddie's way.

Eddie, at times, could be as mean as a rattlesnake and would fight a brick wall, but he also had a heart of gold. Eddie would go out of his way and give anything he had to those in need, especially to those most others overlooked or thought undeserving. He would help those that others would pass by. Eddie would never give up on someone goodhearted going through tough times. He would find a way to help them or support them in some way. Eddie would stop to share a cigarette with a person down on their luck standing on the street with nothing. He would send money to neighbors, or someone who once worked for him who had fallen on hard times or had no one else.

Eddie did things his way and made no apologies for it. Eddie was Eddie, and those who knew him know exactly what that means. (eseckha)

Eddie is survived by his wife, Linda, of 58 years; 3 sons: Mack Edward Johnson III (Eddie Bo and wife Missy), Michael Kenneth Johnson (Mike and wife Kristal), Mark Dwayne Johnson (wife Christy); Sisters: Shirley Curles (husband Jody), Millie Seay (husband Marlin), Ginger Spears (husband Danny - deceased), and 2 others; 10 grandkids: Haleigh, Mackenna, Mack IV, Michael, Kirstie, Dylan, Andrew, Faith, Mark, Gracie; 6 great grandkids: Montgomery, Walker, Blakely, Levi, Kace, Maverick; numerous nieces and nephews.

Eddie is preceded in death by his father, Mack Edward Johnson Sr. and mother Bernice Carraway.

Eddie loved all of his family and he will be missed dearly. The family encourages & welcomes memories or stories of Eddie.

Eddie. Was. So. Kind and fair with me. That. I. Already. Can't. Believe. That he has. Gone. Up. To heaven with. Another friend Jimbo. A. Man that I met. Him through. Working. In state. Building. And the party. After work. Was completed. Then I. Saw. Another.an from. Neighbor.hood. He. Had. Invited. Lol. I. Laughed at. The. Guy. Being. There. Acting as. Security. Til. Eddie. Laughed. And. Stopped. That. Also. He was. So good to. The less fortunate. Helping on that job. He would. Make sure. All who helped. Had. Been treated as a equal. Regardless. I. Was. Laughing. So. Much. When another. Painter. Started singing. So. Many. Good. Times I will. Be. Remember. To. Enjoy life. More. And. Try. To. Go see. The good ones I know. As. He was. Number. 1. That I miss at. Casino. Now and then as i didn't. Win. Like. Eddie. Did. Lol. Man. I was. Saddened when my. Neighbor. Told. Me as I was asking why he was coming up. As. We. Have. Them. Occasionally. Differences Until he told. Me. About Eddie. I. Apologized and am. Going to treat. Him better as. He was also. Friend. To. Eddie. To. And. Just. A great man. As a friend. If. He. Knew you. You was. His. Friend. If he. Considered. Ya. His. No. More because. I can't. Say. Enough. About.eddoe. Johnson. Never. Forgotten. ( Carpetman and. Julie. Margo st). Many others I. Know. Over. This. Way
