Mack Teasley II, age 70, passed away on February 8, 2026, in Flint.
Mack was born on December 4, 1955, in
Greensboro, North Carolina, the son of George E. Teasley and Earlwanna (Kersey) Teasley. He joined the NROTC on December 29, 1978, while attending the University of South Carolina (GO COCKS!!!), where he pursued business studies. Mack earned his degree while simultaneously fulfilling his duties as an Officer-in-Training. Upon entering active duty, Mack excelled at every assignment entrusted to him. During his 15 years, 11 months, and 2 days of distinguished naval service, he rose to become second-in-command of multiple Naval Warfare ships, taught at the Naval Warfare College, and earned numerous commendations and medals. One of his proudest achievements-and fondest memories-was his year serving in the Officer Exchange Program with India. Mack retired from active duty on December 1, 1994, to focus on his family.
A man of wide-ranging passions and talents, Mack was an avid marksman and competed on several shooting teams while enlisted. He loved bird watching and went on to open and operate a horse stable, teaching himself everything required to do so-from building fences and barns to managing the day-to-day operations of the enterprise. He also fostered severely troubled children and remembered every one of them until his final day. Mack was a Cat Whisperer of the Final Order and he never strayed far from thoughts of his beloved Gamecocks. A devoted military historian, he delighted in engaging anyone willing to discuss the subject.
He was preceded in death by his parents and by his brother, Mark Teasley.
Survivors include his wife, Deborah D. Teasley; his stepson, Allen W. Lake; his stepdaughter, Cindy Vo-Lake; and by his very good friend, Luke Nehyba.
