Madeline B. Nasharr, 92, (nee Kennedy) closed her beautiful Irish eyes with a smile as she danced the Irish jig passing through the gates of Heaven on September 25, 2025. We can only imagine what a sight that was with all the bagpipes playing!
Maddie, as known to her friends and family, was born in Chicago, IL on May 29, 1933. Daughter of Maude and John Kennedy she was one of six children. Christopher, John, Robert, James, and Mary Therese. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ronald Nasharr and son, David Nasharr and is survived by her children Susan Shuma, Daniel (Jane) and Erin (Andy) Mason, and ten grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.
From the age of eighteen months to eighteen Maddie was raised along with all of her siblings at the Angel Guardian Orphanage in Chicago. She would share stories of how her mother, Maude, would visit every week and give each of her children a dime. After graduating from AGO she went on to join the convent and took the name Sister Monica. While in the convent she attended Saint Joseph's College in Rensselaer, IN to study to become a pediatric nurse.
Before taking her formal vows of perpetual profession Maddie made the decision to leave the convent but continued to have her lifelong commitment to her Catholic Faith. She continued to work at Ravenswood Hospital in Chicago and became one of the top nurses.
On May 9, 1959 Maddie married Ronald Nasharr in Chicago. Together they raised four children – Susan aka "Susie", David aka "Davey", Daniel aka "My Danny" and Erin aka "Erie Canary". Maddie was active in the choir at St. Irene's Church, volunteered with 4-H, and always found time to help others. She loved canning vegetables from the garden, cooking wild game for the annual hunter's feast, and making apple cider. The things Maddie didn't like were swimming, onions, cucumbers and donuts!
In 1991 Maddie and Ron moved to Bend, OR to retire and enjoy endless rounds of golf with their friends. In September of 2012 Maddie got her first and only hole in one winning $100! She was very active at St. Francis of Assisi Church in Bend, OR.
When Ron passed away May 10, 2024, Maddie moved to Beaverton, OR and continued to share smiles and stories while making new friends living at Morgan Garden Care Home.
Maddie will always be remembered by the love and warmth she gave to everyone she met. She never knew a stranger, and she always had a smile on her face and a heart full of gratitude.
There was probably never a day in her life when she didn't wear green – her favorite color. And most important to remember is Maddie's favorite saying, "I'll see ya the next time I look at ya!" Maddie will always be in our hearts, until we meet again.
Private funeral services will be held at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church.
