Maddie Vigil, a beloved figure whose radiant spirit touched the lives of many, passed away on June 24, 2025, in Lakewood, Colorado, at the age of 76. Born on October 6, 1948, in Monte Vista, Colorado, Maddie dedicated her life to her family and her work, leaving an indelible mark on everyone she met.
A hard worker, Maddie spent her career working in cafeterias at both schools and hospitals, where she was known not just for her culinary skills but for the warmth and joy she brought to her workplace. Her colleagues and patrons alike appreciated her dedication and the care she infused into every meal she prepared.
Maddie was a woman of many talents; through her artwork, she expressed herself with an articulate and vibrant creativity. Whether it was through the delicate strokes of her diamond dot art or the joyful patterns she crocheted, her creative spirit shone bright. She also found time to relax, often immersed in coloring books, where she could unleash her imagination and add color to the world around her.
Beyond her artistic endeavors, Maddie was known for her awesome personality. Outgoing and funny, she possessed a great sense of humor that could light up any room. She was beautiful inside and out, with a heart so big that she constantly worried about everyone around her, always striving to uplift those she loved.
Maddie's cherished legacy is carried forward by her loving husband, Jose, her devoted daughter Louann, her proud son Joseph, and her 13 grandchildren who adored their "Granny." She is also survived by her sister Irene. Furthermore, her remarkable lineage extends to 21 great-grandchildren, all of whom were lucky enough to experience her love, guidance, and unwavering support.
Maddie’s journey was not without its sorrows. Her heart ached with the loss of her son Lonnie Vigil and great-grandson Emiliano Vigil, She was also preceded in death by her siblings Sardo, Edward, and Gloria. Yet she continued to embody strength and kindness, always finding ways to share joy with those around her.
A loving woman, fierce in her devotion to family, friends, and her community, Maddie Vigil leaves behind a legacy of laughter, love, and artistic inspiration. Family and friends are invited to gather in her honor, celebrating her extraordinary life on Saturday July 26, 2025. Visitation will take place at Deliverance Tabernacle from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM, followed by a heartfelt funeral service beginning at 11:00 AM. An additional time of reflection and remembrance will occur from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM, also at Deliverance Tabernacle in Denver, Colorado.
Maddie Vigil will be sorely missed but will forever remain in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know her. Her spirit endures in the laughter of her grandchildren and the memories shared with family and friends, a true testament to a life beautifully lived.
