John A. Hagan, a man of warmth and laughter, departed this world on August 14, 2025, in Lakewood, Colorado, leaving behind a rich tapestry of memories woven through decades of love and dedication. Born on March 18, 1940, in Hanford, California, John spent his early years on an orange grove with his brothers and parents. He embraced life with a joyful spirit that touched everyone he met.

Throughout his remarkable journey, John wore many hats, each contributing to the rich tapestry of his life. His work life began on a barge on the Mississippi river, a humble start that would lead him through diverse roles as a police officer in Wyoming, a dedicated builder in Breckenridge, and ultimately, a valued employee at Samsonite in Denver, where he worked from 1969 until his retirement in 1997.

John's life and career were underscored by an unwavering love for his family and a devotion that defined his character. He shared a profound bond with his cherished wife, JoAnn, with whom he spent 51 beautiful years. Their laughter echoed through the years, and his love for her shone brightly, even in her times of illness. John would innovate and undertake countless tasks to ease her burden, embodying the essence of a devoted caretaker and loving partner.

John attended University of Louisiana at Monroe, LA, where he first met JoAnn, and later graduated from Fort Lewis State College in Durango, Colorado, earning a Bachelor’s degree in Business. He approached each endeavor with the same tenacity and warmth that characterized his personal life, always ready to lend a helping hand.

John was not just a builder of homes and furniture; he was a builder of relationships. A jack of all trades, he derived joy from woodworking, creating beautiful pieces for his children and engaging in hobbies such as working on cars. In his younger days, he found happiness on the ski slopes, reveling in the majesty of the mountains. He was a storyteller, always eager to share his experiences with humor and a twinkle in his eye, creating unforgettable memories for his family and friends. He had a warmth about him that could transform any intimidating façade into a comforting presence, making everyone feel at ease.

He is survived by his daughter Lori (Brian) and son Todd (Liz), who carry forward his legacy of love and resilience. His four grandchildren—Madeline, Natalie, Grant, and Blake—will cherish the memories of their grandfather, who filled their lives with laughter, guidance, and unwavering affection. He is also survived by his brother Gene, who has lost not just a brother but a steadfast companion and friend.

John rejoins his beloved wife, JoAnn, and his parents, Arthur and Augusta Hagan, along with his brother, Kenny, in eternity.

John A. Hagan lived life on his own terms and passed away as he desired, leaving behind a heartfelt legacy of love, strength, and the kind of joy that inspires all who knew him. His stories, laughter, and generous spirit will forever echo in the hearts of everyone he touched.
