Mae Belle Forbes (Harvey-Johnson), age 82, of Erie passed away Friday, April 5, 2024 at her residence. She was born February 8, 1942 in Brandon, MS, a daughter of the late Roy L. Forbes and Jessie Mae Page. 

 

She worked for the GTE – Verizon Telephone Company, retiring after 30 years of service.  

 

In addition to her parents, Mae is preceded in death by her husbands, Louis W. Johnson II and Austin C. Harvey; and a sister Emma Jean Forbes of Brandon, MS. and a son, Louis Johnson III.

 

Survivors include daughters Sandra Harvey Akins and husband Lenoard of Buffalo, NY, Letha Rhodes and husband Owen of Lancaster, PA, and Lesha Powell and husband Henry of Linesville, PA; brothers, Roy L. Forbes, Jr. of Ypsilanti, MI, Tommy Forbes of Portland, OR, Larry Forbes of MD, Carl Sykes Nobles and Huey Nobles, both of CA, and Danny Lee Nobles of OH.; stepbrothers; Roscoe Price and Earl Price, both of MS, and David Barnes of LA.; sisters, Carol Noble, Debra Williams, Gigi Pullium, Brenda Tate and husband Leroy, Dorothea Noble, all of Erie, Sybil Morgan and her husband Brent of TX, Bonne Forbes Cline and Rosemary Forbes Barns both of MS, Joy Hobson of AL, Grace Elmore and Peggy Brown, both of Detroit, MI, Janice Forbes of NYC, Anna Forbes and Marilyn Forbes of Portland, OR, Phyllis Forbes of Las Vegas; stepsisters, Mary Jenkins, Linda F. Smith, Ollie Mae Washington, all of MS, and Irene Carney of New Orleans, Mary Pauline Forbes of Chicago, IL, and Nancy Forbes of Jackson, MS. She is further survived by many grandchildren and great grandchildren. 

 

Friends are invited to a memorial service Saturday, April 13, 2024 at 1:00 p.m. at Burton Quinn Scott Cremation & Funeral Service Inc. Downtown, 602 W. 10th Street, Erie.
