MRS. MAE ETHEL RHODES was born on February 15, 1949 to the union of the late Mr. B. J. and Thelma (Edwards) Henry. She joined Pleasant Grove Missionary Baptist Church, and after graduating high school, worked in the poultry industry until she retired.

She loved to sew, but she enjoyed gardening even more. Her love of flowers was encompassing; it would be nothing for her to ask someone for a piece of a plant such as a golden pothos on occasion. Her favorite plant was a rose.

On the afternoon of August 16, 2025 at her residence, Mrs. Rhodes answered the call to walk into eternity.

Her memories will be carried hereforth with love by her children: William Bernard Evans, Catina (Charles) Lacey, and Eric (Laquita) Rhodes, 9 grandchildren, and 21 great grandchildren. She is also survived by two sisters: Mattie Ruth Bishop and Earlie Mae Gray, and two brothers: Robert J. (Dorothy) Henry and R.V. (Evone, deceased) Henry.

She also leaves a good friend: Mrs. Marvis McCann, and a special friend: Mr. Richard McFarland, along with his children.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Rhodes was preceded in death by one daughter: Tammy Rhodes; one brother: J. B. Henry, and two sisters: Willie Mae Calvin and Annie Nobles.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, August 23, 2025 at 2:00 PM at Pleasant Grove MB Church, with Rev. Keontae Carter as the eulogist. Interment will follow at the church cemetery.

The viewing periods will occur Friday, August 22, 2025 from 12:00 PM until 6:00 PM at Turner Funeral Home, and Saturday, August 23, 2025 from 12:00 PM until 2:00 PM at Pleasant Grove MB Church.
