Mae Alfred Smith

Mae Alfred Smith, age 69, of Pennington passed away Wednesday, October 29, 2025 at the Houston Methodist Hospital. Mae was born February 26, 1956 in Houston to parents, Jesse Lawrence Alfred and Carolyn Jean Sellers Alfred. She graduated from Lovelady High School and then, from Angelina College with her nursing degree. Mae worked as a nurse for many years and was a member of My Father's House at Scrubb Creek.
Mae is survived by husband of 51 years, John Smith of Pennington; son, Chad Smith of Pennington; grandsons, Peyton Smith of Pennington, Parker Smith of Tomball; their mom, Emily Smith of Tomball; sisters, Connie Currie and husband, Clifford of Currietown, Kay Nelms and husband, Pete of Tyler; brother, Jason Alfred of Grapeland; numerous nieces, nephews, other loving relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by parents, Jesse and Carolyn; and brother, Melvin Alfred.
Funeral services for Mae Alfred Smith will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, November 2, 2025 at the Callaway-Allee Memorial Chapel with Pastor Kevin Alfred officiating. Interment to follow at Evergreen Memorial Park. Visitation will be Saturday evening from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Callaway-Allee Funeral Home.
