Dr. Mae Dawn Suminski

Sturbridge: Dr. Mae Dawn Suminski, DDS, 89, passed away peacefully at home on August 9th, after a brief illness.
Dr. Suminski was born at home, in Sturbridge, daughter of the late John and Anna (Baron) Suminski on May 23rd, 1934. She was predeceased by her husband Dr. Frank Sinnreich, DDS, and her two sisters, Alyce Downing and Jania Massoletti.
She leaves behind her nephew John Benoit of Woodstock, CT; her nieces, Dona Nashawaty of Sutton, Jane Fitzgibbons of Fiskdale, Katherine Jerr of Fort Myers FL and J. Anne Marie Larsen of Haddam, CT; five great nieces and nephews and several great-great nieces and nephews.
A graduate of Mary E. Wells, Boston University and the University of Pennsylvania School of Dentistry, Dr. Suminski did her dental internship at Reese Hospital in Chicago, IL, her oral surgery internship at Worcester City Hospital, and her oral surgery residency at University Hospital in Baltimore, MD. Following her residency, she became an instructor and later Assistant Professor of oral surgery at the University of Maryland School of Dentistry, Baltimore MD. She later became Clinical Director of the Eastern Health District Clinic, Baltimore City Health Dept., Baltimore, MD.
Prior to moving back to Sturbridge to care for her elderly parents and raise berries and fruit, she was in private practice in Millbrook, NY. She was a member of the American Dental Society, the Women's Dental Association and the American Oral Surgery Society, among many others.
She will be sorely missed. A private Mass of Christian burial was held, and Daniel T. Morrill Funeral Home was honored to assist the family with the arrangements.
