At the age of seventy, Mae Pearl Williams, a cherished community member, was called home by her Heavenly Father on Sunday, February 16, 2025. She was born to Evey and JD Williams on November 6, 1954.
Mae attended the Booker T. Washington School in the Elgin School District. After graduating, she worked at St. David’s Hospital and then joined Motorola, where she retired after 28 years. Later, she returned to work at DSSW, ResCare, ABS Workshop, and Right at Home, assisting individuals with special needs and the elderly. Additionally, she became an entrepreneur by opening a lounge called Chattin Lounge in the Austin area. Mae developed a passion for traveling, sewing quilts, growing plants, and being a licensed barber/beautician.
Mae accepted Christ at an early age and became a member of the Church of Christ. She attended church until her health prevented her from doing so. Mae was a loving mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. Her presence was one of warmth and kindness, and she touched the lives of those fortunate enough to know her.
Mae’s journey through life was marked by a deep commitment to her family and friends, forging connections characterized by love, respect, and unwavering support. As we reflect on her life, we remember her for her accomplishments and the generous spirit and laughter she brought to those around her. Mae is survived by her only daughter, Rhonda Williams and grandson, Terran Williams of Austin; her mother, Evey Williams of Elgin, seven siblings: Evelyn Thomas, Larry Williams (LaDonna), Jeanette Clark (Michael), Lesia Jones, Deddra (Debra) Williams, Muriel Williams (Teddy), Kenneth Williams (Meredith), Shirell Galloway and James Williams; one bonus son, Warren Dixon and a host of nieces, and nephews covering four generations, also many other relatives and many friends.
